| | Records Preservation is a vital part to preserving records of the Oklahoma County Clerk’s Office. The Clerk’s office operates as the central filing location for a variety of public records stemming from warranty deeds, liens, mortgages, notices, etc. Dating back to 1890, the Clerk’s land and real estate records provided an orderly and permanent history of ownership, which served as a means to ensure proper and legal transfers, settle ownership issues and provide various notices and orders. Imagine the problems that would arise if such records were not preserved, yet made accessible to the public, not just over the short-term, but for generations to come. With this, comes not only a great deal of responsibility to ensure the safety, availability and preserving of such documents, but a revolving opportunity that affords the Clerk’s Office to stay | |

Recently, the Clerk’s office provided all Register of Deed documents, since before statehood, online with the recorded plats to shortly follow suit. The Clerk’s Office is proactive in the privacy issues and is working on the redaction of social security numbers from recordings before legislation passes. The County Clerk’s Office feels that maintaining the integrity and original state of the historical documents and the volume of books within the Clerk’s Office remain perpetual and a priority. The above projects are only a couple examples of the unprecedented efforts to ensure the preservation of records with a focus on serving Oklahoma County citizens. | |
